Landholder workshop: Developing property fire management plans and fire management action plans for your property.
QFBC's popular workshops give local landholders the chance to learn how to prepare for and manage fire on their properties and in the surrounding landscape.
They provide landholders with a better understanding around issues of fire management in the context of risk mitigation, property values and ecosystem health.
They are also designed to assist landholders or land managers to reduce the threat of bushfires/wildfires to life and assets on their property, whilst protecting and enhancing the diversity and abundance of native plants and animals and with considerations for primary production.
Using the newly revised QFBC Property Fire Management Planning Kit, the plans build landholder capacity to balance property priorities, fire safety, weed management and biodiversity conservation.
On completion of the workshop, landholders developed their own fire management map and action plan tailored to their individual property, priorities (i.e. primary production and or conservation) and circumstance.
Workshop topics include:
- Role of fire in the landscape
- Recommended fire regimes
- Plant and animal responses to fire
- Fire and soil erosion
- Fire trails and mitigation zones
- Fire preparedness and mapping.
Workshops are delivered in partnership with key stakeholders, including the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES), local government and the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS).
Landholders wishing to attend the workshop need to have attended the preceding fire information night.
